Al-Rajhi Bank funds education centres under Yayasan Salam

Al-Rajhi Bank (Malaysia) provided RM325,000 in funding today to two education centres under the management of Yayasan Salam.
The centres are the Taska Baitul Amal and Pusat Jagaan Baitul Amal and the funding was under the bank's corporate social responsibility (CSR) Baitul Amal Children's Programme which provides for 70 children from the ages of 2 months to 6 years.
Roseta Mohd Jaafar, Al-Rajhi Bank's vice-president, head of corporate communications said the programme was geared to help underprivileged children in the Jalan Chow Kit area in Kuala Lumpur.
"There are plans to expand programmes such as this to other areas, within the next five years. But for now, we are focused on these two centres. We have also allocated RM500,000 for the CSR programme this year," she said after handing over the funding to Yayasan Salam in Kuala Lumpur today.
Accepting the contribution on behalf of Yayasan Salam was its board member, Datuk Yong Soo Heong.
Registered under the Social Welfare Department, the Taska Baitul Amal was officially launched on July 19, 2010, and the Pusat Jagaan Baitul Amal on January 2, 2012.
Al-Rajhi Bank is an Islamic banking group with a network of over 700 branches and remittance centres in Saudi Arabia. It has 24 branches in Malaysia. – Bernama, June 2, 2015.
